Year Over for Explorers Aviles Wednesday, March 13th, 1957 When Gabe Aviles was hurt against the Cleveland Bobcats, the St. Louis Explorers were hopeful that the injury was not serious. However, it proved to be more severe than first thought. The 30-year-old starting pitcher suffered a torn ligament in his elbow throwing a pitch in yesterday's game. Team doctors told BNN today that Aviles would miss 10-11 months of the season. |
