ABL Selects Rookie Star of the Month Friday, May 1st , 1959 Tim Fried won the Rookie of the Month Award in the American Baseball League today. After posting 1 win and 2 losses in 3 starts during April, the Houston Drillers starter seemed an obvious choice for the honor. He struck out 2 and walked 17 in 23.1 innings and appears to be settling in nicely in the league. If this is any indication of his future success, fans of the Drillers are in for a treat for several years to come. |
