New York Shuts Out Dairymen, Espinoza Winner
Thursday, May 7th , 1959
A favor to his bullpen. That's what Jose Espinoza was doing at Knickerbocker Stadium today as he blanked the Milwaukee Dairymen in a 9-inning complete game shutout.
"I went out there to try to eat up innings and help out our bullpen," the New York Knickerbockers right-hander said later. "I felt I had my good stuff, and it turned out my command was solid."
Espinoza notched 9 strikeouts, surrendered no walks, allowed 4 hits, and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.
To date Espinoza is 1-3 in 5 starts with a 3.69 ERA and has 30 strikeouts in 39 innings.
