Myers Hurls Shutout
Monday, May 20th , 1963
The San Francisco Seagulls did little to support starter Mike Myers against the Houston Drillers, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Drillers, striking out 2 and surrendering 6 hits. The performance from Myers allowed San Francisco to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said 'Mike, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Myers told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

This year Myers has recorded a 7-1 mark. In 9 starts he has fanned 34 batters in 78.1 innings with a 1.03 ERA.
