National Baseball League Names Kappen Best Batter
Monday, May 22nd , 1967
Few players his age are still in the league, but Bob Kappen of the New York Knickerbockers clearly loves the game and clearly he can still get the job done. Last week the 36-year-old third baseman hit the ball with the consistency of someone ten years younger, which made Kappen a popular and well-deserved selection as National Baseball League Player of the Week.

He paced the Knickerbockers attack by putting up a .440 batting average, 11 hits in 25 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 2 home runs. Kappen also scored 4 runs.

In 35 games this season Kappen has compiled a .274 batting average with 34 hits and 3 home runs. He has also scored 11 times and knocked in 13 runs.
