Fans at Queens Field got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season.

The New York Empires outplayed the Boston Terriers en route to a 15-2 win, but the standout was catcher Ernie Rampart. Rampart netted 5 hits in 5 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line.

"Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Terriers manager said in his postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too."

Ernie Rampart hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Jason Lund in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.

On the year Rampart is hitting .300 with 76 hits, 7 home runs, 41 RBIs, .359 OBP and has scored 46 runs.
