Baltimore's Landa ABL #1 Batter in August Tuesday, September 1st , 1959 When Armando Landa stepped up to the plate in August he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the American Baseball League Batter of the Month award. The young Baltimore first baseman posted a .336 batting average with 11 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 21 runs. Landa also worked pitchers for 12 walks to post a .403 on-base percentage. During the current season Landa is batting at a .308 clip with 36 home runs and 88 RBIs. He has played in 116 games and scored 77 times. |
