Hurons Show No Mercy in 9-0 Thrashing of Habitants
Wednesday, August 14th, 1957
It wasn't easy but Sam Partridge made it look that way.
Partridge silenced the Montreal Habitants, 9-0, in a Toronto Hurons triumph at Toronto Park today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Partridge said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 1 walk and 4 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
Partridge has made 24 starts so far this year and put up a 17-3 won-lost record with a 2.23 ERA. In 210 innings he has allowed 160 hits, walked 42 and struck out 143.
