Buenrostro, on Top of His Game, Beats San Francisco, 6-0
Saturday, September 1st, 1956
In an outstanding mound performance, Seattle Emeralds starter Juan Buenrostro fired a complete-game shutout against the San Francisco Seagulls at Puget Field today.
Buenrostro was the key to the Emeralds's 6-0 win. The 30-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 5 hits and 2 walks he allowed.
"5 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
This year Buenrostro has fanned 133 in 203 innings and collected a 11-12 record with a 3.01 ERA.
