Baltimore Blanks Detroit Behind Cooper
Thursday, September 6th, 1956
Gomer Cooper bent a little, but he didn't break against the Detroit Wolverines. The Baltimore Lords pitcher hurled a 6-hit 2-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering no walks and tallying 6 strikeouts.
"Gomer is good at getting out of jams," Lords manager Jordan Wells told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
So far this season Cooper has a record of 20-5 with 101 strikeouts and 57 walks in 236.2 innings and a 2.32 ERA.
