Downs Injured, Day-to-Day Sunday, August 24th , 1958 Bobcats star right fielder Jerry Downs suffered a strained hip muscle during yesterday's game against the Bulls at Independence Field. He sustained the injury while running the bases. Cleveland lists Downs as day-to-day, noting he could miss about 2 weeks. Downs is hitting .287 for the season with 13 home runs, 42 RBIs and 90 runs scored. He has 120 hits in 418 at-bats and played in 109 games. |
