Sokol Struts Stuff in Win Over Chicago
Sunday, July 31st , 1966
The Chicago Hawks had no answer today for Twin Cities Northmen pitcher Charlie Sokol. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 1-0. Chicago managed only 6 hits off Sokol, who had 6 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Sokol got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Northmen fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

For the season Sokol has logged 11 wins and 5 losses and struck out 110 batters in 156.2 innings while compiling a 2.64 ERA.
