Ahrens Stops Washington Cold, 2-0

In a remarkable performance, Cincinnati Packers starter Fred Ahrens beat the Washington Rough Riders 2-0 in an impressive 7-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Packers hurler finished with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Washington manager Matthew Cleveland said following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
To this point in the season, Ahrens shows a 8-7 record, 19 starts, 155 innings, 65 strikeouts and a 3.19 ERA.
