Miller Shuts Out Emeralds, 1-0
Saturday, May 22nd, 1954
The Houston Drillers did little to support starter Buddy Miller against the Seattle Emeralds, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Emeralds, striking out 5 and surrendering 5 hits. The performance from Miller allowed Houston to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Buddy, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Miller told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
So far this season Miller has 2 wins and 3 losses and a 4.81 ERA.
