2000th Hit for Steinberg Wednesday, April 29th , 1964 The box score from yesterday's game will show that Toronto beat the Montreal Habitants, 7-0. It will also show that first baseman Charlie Steinberg went 4-for-5 for the Hurons. It will not show, however, that Steinberg reached the 2000-hit mark for his career. The 35-year-old Steinberg reflected on the achievement after the game. He mused: "In one respect, it's a real milestone, I guess. Yet, it's just a base hit like any other base hit."
