Red-Hot Rampage Reaps NBL Reward Monday, September 19th , 1960 At the age of 30, Luis Benitez might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The New York right fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .480 batting average. For his efforts Benitez collected the National Baseball League Player of the Week Award. He racked up 12 hits in 25 at-bats, 2 home runs and 4 RBIs last week in 6 games. So far in 1960 Benitez is batting .342 with 19 home runs, 82 RBIs and 80 runs scored. He has 187 hits in 546 at-bats and a .408 OBP. |
