Chicago Shut Out, 7-0, By Explorers, Dalton Wednesday, August 2nd , 1961 Don Dalton shut out the Chicago Traders 7-0 on a 1-hit masterpiece for the St. Louis Explorers at Castle Point Field today. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," St. Louis skipper Ray Fleetwood said afterward. Dalton registered 5 strikeouts and issued 2 walks in pitching a gem. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Chicago manager Joe Placeholder after the defeat. This season Dalton has a 8-8 record with a 2.79 ERA in 23 starts.
