20 Games in a Row for Oliver
Friday, May 30th , 1958
The Boston Terriers may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 4-2 to the Detroit Wolverines, but Ernie Oliver continued to hit like a god.

The second baseman collected 2 hits in 4 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games.

"Oliver is playing great and is on fire right now," Terriers manager Steve McCarthy said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins."

Oliver was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss."
Ernie Oliver hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

Oliver is hitting at a .378 mark this season. His stats show 6 home runs, 29 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has played 39 games for the Terriers.
