Twin Cities 3B Ridler Suspended
Friday, May 22nd , 1964
The suspension of third baseman Ken Ridler did not sit well with the Twin Cities Northmen. Both Ridler and his manager were livid at what both say is an unjustified 3-game suspension issued today by league officials. Ridler was suspended for "inappropriate conduct" during a game against the Montreal Habitants yesterday at Twin Cities Stadium.

Ridler was ejected from the game for arguing a strike call. "It's not right," he said, adding, "I didn't do anything to deserve this. Eject me, but don't suspend me."

His manager also vented his displeasure. "Arguments go on all the time, face-to-face, and there's not a suspension. To be suspended is ridiculous. That's bull."

Ridler did more than just argue the call, he threw his bat at the feet of the umpire and walked off the field. That is the main reason the league suspended him.

Thus far in 1964 Ridler is hitting .243 with 2 home runs, 19 RBIs, 11 runs scored and has compiled a .277 OBP.
