Saturday, June 21st , 1958
Jock Casey kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Brooklyn Bluebirds were all smiles after winning 3-0 against the St. Louis Explorers at Flatbush Park today. The left-handed Casey gave up no runs in his start, permitted 3 hits and had 6 strikeouts.
"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Casey said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."
In season stats Casey shows a 3-7 record in 13 games, 91.1 innings, 35 strikeouts and a 3.84 ERA.
