Fearnley Shuts Out Northmen, 3-0
Sunday, June 22nd , 1958
Detroit Wolverines hurler Merle Fearnley was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Twin Cities Northmen, shutting them out 3-0 on 5 hits.
"Merle was very aggressive tonight," Detroit manager Alex Wobbema said. "He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
Through 9 innings, Fearnley tallied 6 strikeouts and allowed 4 walks.
"He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well," losing manager Nate Kennedy said. "Fearnley has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
In pitching stats this season Fearnley has rung up 5 wins and 5 losses in 12 games. He has an ERA of 4.24 and has fanned 64 batters in 80.2 innings.
