Des Moines Stops Kroll's Hit Streak Tuesday, July 24th , 1962 For 20 straight games, Chris Kroll tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy. Well, the 24-year-old Toledo Mud Hens left fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Des Moines Demons. The Demons held him hitless in 3 at-bats at Toledo OH minor league park today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 20. There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Mud Hens took the win by the score of 6-1. "I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now." Kroll is currently hitting at a .311 pace with 13 home runs and 67 RBIs. |
