McCarthy Spins 7-0 Shutout Wednesday, July 25th , 1962 Richard McCarthy kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Columbus Jets were all smiles after winning 7-0 against the Louisville Colonels at Louisville KY minor league park today. The right-handed McCarthy gave up no runs in his start, permitted 8 hits and had 6 strikeouts. "If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," McCarthy said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be." So far this year McCarthy has a 5-6 record with a 3.57 ERA. |
