Eastern Baseball League Picks Top Performer Monday, August 6th , 1962 Steve Garcia demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Eastern Baseball League Player of the Week Award. The Des Moines center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .444 average (8-for-18) with 4 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. So far this year Garcia is hitting .267 with 27 home runs. |
