EBL Announces Outstanding Batter Award Saturday, September 1st , 1962 It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 23 Steve Garcia has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Des Moines Demons star can enjoy the numbers he put up in August, which have garnered him the nod as the Eastern Baseball League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .321 average with 8 home runs, 16 RBIs and 29 runs scored. Posting a .271 batting average to date, Garcia has 32 home runs and 82 RBIs. |
