Jerry Campbell Takes MVP Trophy
Thursday, September 13th , 1962
The manager of the Rochester Red Wings said he thinks Jerry Campbell is only going to get better as he gets older.

He may only be 24, but it will be hard to top the center fielder's 1962 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Eastern Baseball League Most Valuable Player Award.

His winning campaign featured a .335 batting average and a .413 on-base percentage this year. In 126 games he piled up 166 hits, 24 doubles, 3 triples, 16 home runs, 72 RBIs and 92 runs scored.

He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Dave Appleby of the Syracuse Hoplites finished second in voting, while Steve Garcia of the Des Moines Demons finished third.
