SBL Honors Cardenas, #1 Batter in August Saturday, September 1st , 1962 At only 24 years of age, Tony Cardenas could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career. That would be great news for fans of the Richmond Virginians, as August was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the Southern Baseball League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .351 with 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and 21 runs scored. To date Cardenas has chalked up a .282 average with 40 home runs, driven in 102 runs and scored 72 times. |
