Kings End Holderbaum's Streak
Saturday, July 7th , 1962
Bill Holderbaum, second baseman for the Salt Lake City Waders, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 1 tries against the Honolulu Kings today. Not only did the Kings break his 23-game hitting streak, they also beat Salt Lake City by the score of 5-4.
"Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Holderbaum said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."
To date this year Holderbaum is batting .343 with 3 home runs.
