Raiders Blanked by Placeholder, 1-0 Wednesday, July 25th , 1962 It was not a good day at the plate for the Cedar Rapids Raiders. They came up empty when it mattered against Lincoln Links right-hander Double A Placeholder, who scattered 4 hits across 9 innings and held the Raiders scoreless. "We had 4 hits so I know he wasn't completely untouchable, but he was close," Cedar Rapids manager said later. Placeholder chalked up 3 strikeouts and 4 walks in the 1-0 Links win. So far this year Placeholder has made 13 starts, tossed 106.2 innings, struck out 39 batters and walked 61. His record is 9-4 with a 3.54 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .207 batting average. |
