1962 HBL Pitcher of the Year Award Named

The Heartland Baseball League announced today that Don Barber has been chosen the Pitcher of the Year Award winner for 1962. The Omaha starter had everything working for him this past season as he breezed to a 9-1 record.

In his award-winning season Barber crafted a 1.69 ERA in 101.1 innings with 75 strikeouts and 42 walks. Opposing batters hit .189 against him in his 14 starts.

He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 6. Larry Moore of the Decatur Commodores finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Allan Sonntag of the Lincoln Links finished third.
