Placeholder Twirls 2-0 Shutout
Wednesday, August 22nd , 1962
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Double A Placeholder of the Austin Senators proved the point at Austin TX minor league park today, holding the Amarillo Yellers to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Placeholder made us look real bad today," Yellers manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Placeholder had 2 strikeouts and gave up 5 walks as the Senators took the 2-0 win.
