1962 NEL Best Player, Binghamton's Rivera
Thursday, September 6th , 1962
The manager of the Binghamton Triplets said he thinks Henry Rivera is only going to get better as he gets older.

He may only be 22, but it will be hard to top the shortstop's 1962 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Northeastern Baseball League Most Valuable Player Award.

His winning campaign featured a .271 batting average and a .374 on-base percentage this year. In 120 games he piled up 125 hits, 18 doubles, 5 triples, 24 home runs, 77 RBIs and 77 runs scored.

He received 6 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Alvaro Gonzales of the Reading Railroaders finished second in voting, while Wally White of the Allentown Quakers finished third.
