Peaches End Thomas's Streak Wednesday, August 1st , 1962 Mark Thomas, second baseman for the Norfolk Tides, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Macon Peaches today. Not only did the Peaches break his 21-game hitting streak, they also beat Norfolk by the score of 5-3. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Thomas said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate." This season Thomas is batting .356 with 40 RBIs, 32 runs scored and 6 home runs. |
