Sally Star of the Week Picked Monday, August 13th , 1962 Charlotte Hornets shortstop Fred Kolenda had a great time at the plate last week, running up some sensational numbers that no one else could match. Few people were surprised today when the South Atlantic Baseball League named him Player of the Week. Kolenda banged out 12 hits in 26 at-bats on the way to a .462 batting average. He also racked up 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored. This year Kolenda is batting .304 with 3 home runs. He has scored 58 runs and driven in 55. |
