Collegians Blank Weavers, Granger Wins Wednesday, July 4th , 1962 The Greensboro Weavers met their match today in Salem hurler Allen Granger. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 3-hit shutout. "He just worked us over," Greensboro skipper said. "He probably didn't even need a shower after the game -- he barely worked up a sweat." In the 1-0 victory, Granger whiffed 5 and gave up 1 walk. Granger has made 18 starts, tossed 125 innings, struck out 109 batters and walked 46. His record is 7-5 with a 3.38 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .247 batting average. |
