Orlando Blanks Daytona Beach, 3-0 Sunday, June 24th , 1962 The Daytona Beach Islanders struggled at the plate today against Oranges hurler Single A Placeholder, who shackled them on 5 hits while hurling a complete game 3-0 shutout. "What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Islanders skipper in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow." Placeholder finished the game with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks in an excellent mound performance. "He pitched real well," Orlando manager said. "Single A made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively." This year Placeholder has compiled a 6-2 record with a 2.42 ERA in 8 starts. |
