Placeholder Twirls 5-0 Shutout
Wednesday, August 22nd , 1962
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Single A Placeholder of the Daytona Beach Islanders proved the point at Pensacola FL minor league park today, holding the Pensacola Terriers to 4 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Placeholder made us look real bad today," Terriers manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Placeholder had 2 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk as the Islanders took the 5-0 win.

His record this season is 5-10 in 16 starts and Placeholder has a 4.92 ERA.
