Placeholder Twirls 1-0 Shutout
Friday, August 24th , 1962
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Single A Placeholder of the Lakeland Pilots proved the point at Pensacola FL minor league park today, holding the Pensacola Terriers to 2 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Placeholder made us look real bad today," Terriers manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Placeholder had 6 strikeouts and gave up 5 walks as the Pilots took the 1-0 win.

This season Placeholder has 8 wins and 8 losses and a 3.77 ERA.
