Chet Lee of the Lakeland Pilots proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you've got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Gulf Coast Baseball League Most Valuable Player Award.

Lee hit for a .326 average while collecting 70 hits, 13 doubles, no triples, 10 home runs, 35 RBIs and scoring 38 times.

He received 6 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jim Pierre of the Daytona Beach Islanders finished second in voting, while Steve Warren of the Pensacola Terriers finished third.
