McCormick Stretches Hit String to 20 Saturday, August 11th , 1962 Davenport lost to the Waterloo Hawks 13-8 at Waterloo IA minor league park today, but Marty McCormick kept his consecutive-game hitting streak alive with 2 hits. The Quads center fielder has now delivered hits in 20 straight games. "Marty has a nice streak going, but the scoreboard tells the important story today," Davenport manager told reporters after the game. "We lost, no matter how many hits anyone had." Marty McCormick struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and was hit by a pitch in the 9th. McCormick is batting at a .395 pace this season, picking up 64 hits in 162 at-bats with 4 home runs, 20 RBIs and 36 runs scored. |
