Sims Triumphs in Pitcher of the Year Award Voting Wednesday, September 5th , 1962 Burlington ace Dave Sims put up some sensational stats for the 1962 season and has been voted the Iowa Baseball League Pitcher of the Year Award winner. The 20-year-old Bees star made 30 starts and racked up a 12-1 record. He pitched 163.2 innings, collected 172 strikeouts, gave up 43 walks and 109 hits in holding the opposition to a .187 batting average. He received 6 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Luis Gonzalez of the Davenport Quads finished second in voting, while Dave Bowen of the Burlington Bees finished third.
