The top vote-getter in this year's Iowa Baseball League Most Valuable Player Award balloting was Joe Lawrence, the outstanding Burlington third baseman.

He finished the season with a .342 batting average, 168 hits, 27 home runs, 84 RBIs, .422 OBP and 105 runs scored.

He received 6 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Bill Hamilton of the Clinton Pilots finished second in voting, while Max Kesic of the Dubuque Dairymen finished third.
