Yakima's Lopez Nabs PNL Player of the Week Monday, July 23rd , 1962 Yakima starting pitcher, Fernando Lopez breezed through the Pacific Northwest Baseball League batters last week and today was voted its outstanding player. He led the league with 2 wins awarded the PNL Player of the Week trophy. For the week the Harvesters hurler compiled a fine 2-0 won-lost record, surrendered 14 hits and fanned 15 in 16 innings and put up an impressive 1.12 ERA. Up to now Lopez has compiled an ERA of 3.89 with a 9-7 mark over 21 starts. He has 126 strikeouts in 152.2 innings and has held opponents to a .248 batting average. |
