August's Premier Batter Announced Saturday, September 1st , 1962 August is a month Mel Taylor will no doubt remember for quite some time to come. The 19-year-old Boise center fielder came through all month long for his club and has won honors as the Pacific Northwest Baseball League Batter of the Month. His standout month saw him put up a .315 batting average, with 5 home runs, 18 RBIs, 16 runs scored and a .402 on-base percentage. Taylor has a .328 career batting average and has hit a total of 17 home runs. |
