PNL Announces Best Player Award Thursday, September 6th , 1962 It was a season to remember for Mel Taylor, and one for his opposing pitchers to forget. The center fielder for Boise has claimed the 1962 Most Valuable Player Award with a .328 batting average. Taylor rang up 131 hits, 23 doubles, 4 triples, 17 home runs, 64 RBIs and 74 runs scored.
