Placeholder Hot, Quakers Cold Tuesday, June 19th , 1962 The Elmira Quakers struggled at the plate today against Habs hurler Rookie Placeholder, who shackled them on 5 hits while hurling a complete game 2-0 shutout. "What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Quakers skipper in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow." Placeholder finished the game with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks in an excellent mound performance. "He pitched real well," Auburn manager said. "Rookie made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively." This year Placeholder has fanned 19 in 41 innings and collected a 3-3 record with a 5.93 ERA. |
