Red-Hot June Lands Cook Batting Prize in Penny

Brian Cook put together a good June to earn the Pennsylvania-New York Baseball League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Elmira officials that he belongs on the big league roster.

The Quakers shortstop posted a .287 batting average with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Cook is hitting .257 this season with 11 home runs, 33 RBIs and 39 runs scored. He has 59 hits in 230 at-bats.
