| With four more teams adopting separate uniforms for home and road use, the practice now held the majority. Buffalo and Cincinnati followed the white/gray trend, but Chicago experimented with red home uniforms and black road uniforms while Detroit opted for yellow at home and blue on the road. The latter two combos established a seldom-violated guideline that when colors other than white or gray are used, the lighter color is worn at home. The “gear” logo that has been featured on many Pittsburgh uniforms in the ensuing decades made its first appearance on their jerseys and caps this year. |
