Pittsburgh Tops Kansas City, 6-1, Claims 2-1 Series Lead
|
Kansas City had trouble with Pittsburgh starter Marty Clark, who frustrated Bulls hitters, as the Industrials cruised to victory, 6-1, in Game 3 of the Divisional Round. The Industrials now hold a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series, thanks in large part to the right-handed Clark, who controlled Kansas City throughout the contest and threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball.
Clark, a native of Honeoye Falls, New York, was dealing all game. He kept Kansas City hitters off-balance, while giving the Industrials 7 quality innings. Clark threw 110 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 6.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Independence Field in Kansas City.
