Weston, Philadelphia Start League Championship Series Strong with Home Win
The Philadelphia Quakers started the League Championship Series in style today, downing the visiting Pittsburgh Industrials at Penn's Landing Park by a score of 5-4 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Quakers third baseman Alan Weston was named player of the game after he went 5 for 5 with a double and 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

The Quakers took a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing Pittsburgh hurler Chuck Munson with one out, Weston hit a run-scoring double.

"It was a solid team effort," said Weston after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Philadelphia. Slated to start are Elmer Deaton for Pittsburgh and Alex Geary for Philadelphia.
